Indications (Uses)
Used for the treatment of ocular infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Pink Eye (Infectious Keratoconjunctivitis / New Forest Disease)
- Conjunctivitis
- Corneal infections
- Contagious ophthalmia in sheep
Effective against:
- Staphylococcus aureus (including resistant strains)
- Moraxella bovis

Dosage & Administration
For topical ophthalmic use only.
Apply by gently pulling down the lower eyelid and placing the ointment into the conjunctival sac.
Recommended dosage:
- Cattle & Horses: 5–10 cm strip per eye
- Sheep: 5 cm strip per eye
- Dogs & Cats: 2 cm strip per eye
Frequency:
- Usually a single application is sufficient
- Repeat after 48–72 hours if necessary
Important:
- Treat both eyes even if only one is infected to prevent cross-contamination
- Treat the healthy eye first
Pharmacological Properties
Cloxacillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that:
- Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
- Is resistant to penicillinase enzymes
Pharmacokinetics:
